Text Box: During the last school year, Gulf Coast evaluated and tested different Course Management Systems (CMS) to replace BlackBoard.
 
After the evaluation, Angel Learning was selected to be the new course management system.
 
During the summer semester, all distance education courses were taught using the new system.  There were some glitches and some problems that had to be worked out.
 
In summer B, we implemented a student e-mail system that will become the common system for all students (and adjuncts) and will be incorporated into the CMS.
 
Beginning this fall, all courses will have an Angel page established for use by the instructor.  Whether you use the system or not is your option.  It does have a secure grade book that you can use to let students know how they did on tests.  It also will allow you to have a discussion on issues outside class and a method of making announcements to your students.
 
This brochure is an introduction to the Angel system to help you get started.  You will also be given a Quickstart Guide to assist you in managing the course.  If you have questions or problems, you can contact the GCCC Computer Services Help Desk (769-1551, extension 3303).  If you would like to attend a training session for Angel on a weekend or during the evening, contact Dr. Steve Dunnivant,(769-1551, extension 3876) or via email at sdunnivant@gulfcoast.edu. and see if he has times set up for training or can accommodate your available times.
