Math Division Meeting

10:00 AM Math Division Conference Room SUW 270

  1. Approval of Minutes of November 2 nd
    • Dean Burbank approved, Deanna Petersen Seconded
  2. Academic Council
    • November 7 th meeting:
      • The council heard reports from assorted subcommittees
      • Results of the prioritizing of the equipment were handed out
      • Beginning fall 2008, departments need to have a 3 year plan in place that includes a budget
        • The plans (including the budgets) will be due at the end of spring 2008
    • November 14 th meeting:
      • Steve Dunnivant gave a report on e-learning
      • Gerry Wilson distributed the handout Steve used to the division
    • Gerry Wilson distributed the CCSSE report and discussed its findings with the division
    • Sue Hatfield reported to the Academic Council that there will be two new areas in the library
      • An area dedicated to collaborative and group work
      • A coffee shop
  3. Sharon Hudson discussed Steve Dunnivant's e-learning presentation with the division
    • Course integrity in relation to online final taking
    • Course development
    • Compensation
    • Overloads
  4. The night duty sign-up sheet was passed around the division
  5. Reports from committees
    • Faculty Council (Terri Bedford)
      • Faculty Council would like to send 10 people to a NISOD conference in Austin as a professional development opportunity and needs nominations
        • Conference is in May, nominations needed by November 21 st
      • The 'What a Difference You've Made' award has been pushed back from Christmas to the end of the year
