Math Division Meeting

10:00 AM Room SUW 270

  1. Approval of Minutes
    • Dean Burbank approved, Angelia Reynolds seconded
  2. From Academic Council and PLT
    • Gerry Wilson went over Don Reese’s program review presentation
      • Program review teams will be chosen before faculty leaves at the end of spring semester
      • Gerry Wilson discussed the grouping of Academic Programs for review
      • Many of the review forms can be filled out from CSRS reports
      • There will be program reviews ongoing, but not every program will be reviewed every year
    • Gerry Wilson presented the Assessment Plan Flow Chart
    • Gerry Wilson showed the division a document depicting the specifics of program review
    • Wendy Payne spoke about a new club called ‘Spiked Soup’ (bimonthly webcasts)
    • Melissa Lavender is sending out Honors Convocation list of department awards
    • UWF articulation is Friday, February 29 th
  3. Dean Burbank volunteered to represent the division at the University of West Florida Articulation day
  4. Gerry Wilson went over the Marketing Audit Information report with the division
  5. Gerry Wilson shared an email received from a student by Sharon Todd
    • The email discussed course offerings and DVD sign out policies
  6. The division discussed different ideas regarding the ‘President’s Rising 1 st Generation Freshman’ award
  7. Terri Bedford volunteered to serve on the Math-Science scholarship committee
  8. Reports from committees:
    • Faculty Council
      • (Lloyd Harris) Assessment will be getting under way and should be faculty driven
      • (Terri Bedford) Don Reese gave his feedback on alternative scheduling. Terri will email the schedule options to the division
      • There was a discussion about doing away with the 10:00 AM hour on campus
    • Athletics - Homecoming was discussed
    • E-learning (Sharon Hudson) - Sharon would like the division to come up with a statement addressing academic integrity for the E-learning mission statement
