Math Division Meeting

- Approval of Minutes
- Angelia Reynolds approved, Deanna Petersen seconded
- Gerry Wilson gave reports from Academic Council and PLT
- PLT
- There is a new alumni position that reports to Margie Mazur in the Foundation
- Reports were given by Dr. Kerley, Sharon Todd, Maggi LeClair, Information Technology, Academic Advising, Campus Greening and Beautification, Communication, Competitiveness/Collaboration, Enrollment, Human Resources, International Programming, Merit Pay, Program Enhancement, and Professional Development Committee
- There is another budget cut expected in July
- Campus safety and security systems are being upgraded
- The position currently occupied by Wanda Luckie will eventually be revised to be manned by 3 people in the area of Institutional Effectiveness
- Academic Council
- Leo Lusk and Dean Burbank addressed the council defending the division’s desire to keep pre-engineering and math education in the Mathematics advising area
- Sharon Hudson reported on the Advising Action Team
- The new structure of divisions was presented
- Technology and Business together
- Education and Social Sciences together
- EPI and Lynn Wallace’s areas are still being discussed
- Linda Adair reported on Accountability/Program Review/Articulation via PowerPoint presentation

- Web based course delivery pay scale was discussed
- Will be level with face to face classes up to 12 students
- 12 and beyond students, the decision will be left up to the division chair (as it is now)
- Two new courses were presented and accepted
- From Angel meeting on Monday afternoon: (Gerry Wilson, Leo Lusk)
- version 7.3 is coming
- There will be a new theme editor, interface refinements and some other revisions
- Formal release will be in May, instructors will be able to try it over the summer
- Angelia Reynolds reported on her visit to Wanda Cahill’s dual enroll class at Bay High School
- The division voted to post the FSU police number in the classrooms
- The division voted on the Math Hall of Fame adjunct award
- Reports from committees:
- Faculty Council (Terri Bedford)
- Discussing keeping CSRS or finding something new
- At large members elected
- Alternate class schedule was discussed
- Terms of a division representative to the council were discussed
- Degree audit screen in CSRS will be given to all faculty
- All staff meeting on March 14, all faculty meeting on March 28, Linda Adair’s retirement party April 18
- Athletics – Homecoming was discussed
- E-learning (Sharon Hudson) – Sharon reported that the committee revised the mission statement to include ‘without compromising academic integrity or rigor’
- Tri-College (Deanna Petersen) – Discussing where to place BrainBowl trophies
- Other – the division discussed continuing the student reception after graduation
