Diophantus (c. 250 AD)
Diophantus, considered the last champion of Greek mathematical tradition, writes his now famous Arithmetica.
Of the thirteen original Books of Arithmetica only six survived the turmoils of the Dark Ages.
These Books however would go on to inspire the Renaissance mathematicians, including Pierre de Fermat.
