The Solutions are Flawed
Lamé and Cauchy each presented their results to the Academy but Ernst Kummer would show their proofs were flawed.
In 1850 the Paris Academy offers a prize for the solver of FLT.
It appears though that many mathematicians are becoming fearful of trying to solve FLT in light of failure.
